On February 26, 1955, Jim married his high school sweetheart, Catherine P. Calhoun (Pat), together they celebrated 59 years of marriage. James was a long-time resident of Johnsburg who was very active within the community. His involvement in Johnsburg sports was unsurpassable serving as both President and coach for Johnsburg Little League and Johnsburg High School Athletic Booster Club for many years. He worked as a union carpenter in Chicago on high-rise buildings as a roofer before setting himself up in business as a roofing contractor with Williams and Son's Roofing.
