Gene L. Wright, 87, passed away peacefully in his home on August 13, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on April 2, 1937, in Makanda, Illinois, he was the son of the late Lester and Dorothy (Mathis) Wright.
Gene grew up spending time in Bradenton, FL, Anna Marie Island, FL, Libertyville, IL. Immediately graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and after went on to earn his degree at Northern Illinois University in Dekalb. He began working at his father's business J&L Oil and the rest is history.
Gene's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us all, the love he shared, and the memories that will be cherished forever. He will be remembered for his dedication, love for his family, and his adventurous spirit. He enjoyed flying (his own planes of course), traveling to beautiful places, spending time in the upper peninsula at his lake house, and spending time with his beloved pets; treating every one of them like family.
